When You Read the Bible

Hello, this is your friend, Miss Robin. In the Bible we pass from one style of literature to another as easily as if we are reading a story. A story written by one hand and produced by one life. Well, it is a story produced by one Mind, (2 Peter 1:21) though not written by one hand. While divine it is human. The thought is divine, the revelation is divine, the expression of the communication is human. Holy men (human element) of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. (divine element.)

The Bible is a book unlike all others.It is a progressive revelation from God to man communicated through men. It moves smoothly from its beginning to its great end. In Genesis we have beginnings, and in Revelation we have endings. From Exodus to Jude we see how God carried out his purpose.

What is God’s purpose for you today? How will you glorify Him in thought and deed?

Pay Attention to Reading Your Bible

There is no royal road to knowledge of the Bible. To be sure, the Spirit of God will lead us into all truth, but God’s command is that we study to be approved, workmen who are not ashamed. (2 Tim. 2:15) We must give the Bible attention with intention. It is intention that will stimulate attention. Perhaps there is so little attention to reading the Bible because of so little intention.

We must come to it with a purpose. We must know what we are about. Some people say, “The Bible is so great I don’t know how to begin.” People say this sincerely, and it is true that we have to have a method or we will get little result, even though we spend much time with the Book.

The Bible can be read out loud from cover to cover in 72 hours. Do you want to read the Bible through? Then carve out 80 hours or so. Plot out that time. How much can you give it each day? How many days a week? If we are going to know the Bible, we must give time to it. We must adjust our lives to make time for it, otherwise we will never come to any worthy knowledge of the word.

Revelation, the Last Book of Prophecy in the Bible

The last book of prophecy in the New Testament is the book of Revelation. It is also the very last book of the Bible. Revelation was written by John the Apostle while he was exiled on the island of Patmos near the end of his life. Revelation means unveiling. It is the Revelation of Jesus Christ given by Himself to John.

Revelation deals with the return of the Lord to earth, and describes the readiness or unreadiness of the House of God. (3:20) The book contains descriptions of tremendous events on earth and in heaven, during and after Jesus’ second coming.

Revelation is the only book of the Bible that promises a blessing to those who read and hear it. In the book of Revelation we see a glorious reigning Christ. The Gospels presented Him as our Saviour, the One who came to take the curse of sin. But in this last book, there is no humiliation! It tells of the reign of Christ on this earth which Satan wants to control. It tells of Christ’s complete and eternal overthrow of Satan. Revelation tells more about the devil’s doom than any other book. No wonder Satan doesn’t want men to read it!

To Help You Understand Your Bible Part 2

Hello, everybody, this is your friend, Miss Robin. In the Bible the foundation for Christianity is laid in the revelation of the one and only true God. God chose a people, the children of Israel, to show this truth. They preserved the record of Him.

The Bible tells us of the origin of sin, and how it separated man from God. It tells how utterly impossible it is for the law to bring man to the salvation he needs. By the deeds of the law no man can be justified in His sight, for all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.

Then the Bible gives us a promise of a Savior, one who came to seek and to save that which was lost, and gave his life a ransom for many. (Luke 19:10, Matt. 20:28) Through the ages, one purpose of the Bible is evident, to prepare the way for the coming of the Savior, Jesus, into the world.

Suppose you were to cover the great fields of knowledge: law, history, philosophy, ethics, and prophecy, and bring them together and bind them into one book. To begin with, what would you call it? What unity would you expect to find in such a jumble of subjects? No publisher would ever risk publishing such a work, and if he did, nobody would read it or buy it. This, however, is precisely what is done in the Bible, and it continues to outsell every other book in the world every year.

General Letters of the New Testament

Hello, this is your friend Miss Robin. It’s time to finish our study of the categories of the Bible. We did a little overview of the books of Law, History, Poetry, and Prophecy in the Old Testament. The we learned about the gospels, a history book, and Paul’s letters in the New Testament. The next division of the New Testament is General Letters. (Sometimes they are called epistles.) The general letters were written by different writers, and most of the letters bear the writer’s name. The exception to this is the letter to the Hebrews. It is the only letter in the New Testament besides 1,2, and 3 John where the writer does not identify himself. That’s why there are a lot of differing opinions on who wrote the book of Hebrews.

Aside from Hebrews, James was written by James, the half-brother of Jesus, 1 and 2 Peter was written by the Apostle Peter, 1,2, and 3 John was written by the Apostle John, and Jude was written by Jude, also the brother to James and half brother to Jesus. We say that they were half brothers of Jesus because Jesus’ biological father is God. James and Jude’s biological father was Joseph.

There is only one division left in the New Testament, and we will do that one next time.

WoW! What a surprise! My friend Cristina, has given Miss Robin an award! Now, I’m supposed to pass it on to 5 other bloggers. Funny/Sweet Pet Photo Contest Rules

Hey, what do you thing about Tiger Boots? He got sooooo sleepy! See how easy it is to take a sweet pet picture?

Here are the rules. I have decided to open the contest up to older kids too. So there will be two categories, under 12 and over 12. And I’ve decided I need to beef up the prizes a bit, so you start taking your pictures and I’m gonna scout around to a bunch of my connections and see what kind of prizes we can add to the Answers For New Christians books.

So, the deadline to submit your pictures is July 12 at midnight. There are two categories, Funny and Sweet pictures. There are two age brackets, under 12 and over 12. Learning Bible by Events

Listen to the podcast to get the story about how to learn the Bible by memorizing the major events. Here is the list of the major events of the Bible to make your card game with.

Before you make your game you need some index cards and a sharpie. Write down the event on one side of the card and the number and Bible reference on the other side. When you get all of the Old Testament and New Testament cards made, you are ready to play your game. You can play by yourself by trying to lay down the event cards in order. At first you will have to look at the back to see if you are getting it right. But before long, you will be able to put the major events of the Bible in order without looking! If you want to make it really fun, make a duplicate set of cards and have a race with somebody.

Hello, kids. This is Fuzz in one of his favorite spots, my bathtub! That’s what a crazy kitty he is. He even likes to take baths! You have probably noticed that I like to take pictures of my pets. So I started thinking, I bet you do too! So, I told myself, why don’t we have a contest? There are two categories, funniest picture and sweetest picture.
